There have been some rumours in media about Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Scheme of the Government of India. It is clarified that OCI scheme applicable to Indian Diaspora remains the same.People would be aware that some time back, Government of India had decided to merge Persons of Indian Origin [PIO] card with OCI scheme. Following this decision, we are encouraging all PIO card holders in South Africa to convert their cards into OCI. The last date for converting an existing PIO card free of cost is June 30, 2017. However, PIO cards will continue to be converted into OCI cards after paying an amount to be determined later.
